FDR Introduction

WIP

warning

The FDR device and associated sensors are not certified aviation equipment.

Correct installation, orientation, wiring, and configuration of the FDR device and GPS antenna are critical to data accuracy and system behavior.
Improper installation may result in missing, delayed, misleading, or invalid data being transmitted to connected displays and external services.

This system must not be relied upon as a primary source of navigation, flight guidance, or flight control information.

Installation Limitations

The FDR device does not independently validate installation correctness or sensor integrity.

Data accuracy and availability depend on:

  • Proper physical mounting orientation of the FDR device
  • Secure mechanical mounting to prevent vibration or movement
  • Correct GPS antenna placement with an unobstructed view of the sky
  • Proper power and signal wiring, including grounding
  • Reliable communication links to external data services

Failure to meet these requirements may adversely affect recorded data, displayed information, and advisory features such as traffic indications or alerts.

warning

AHRS-derived data is highly sensitive to FDR device orientation and mounting.

Incorrect installation, movement after installation, or exposure to excessive vibration may result in erroneous attitude or motion data being generated and propagated to connected displays.
